A new law is being introduced in Washington state that would legalize psilocybin, magic mushrooms

In addition to a wave of psychedelics legalization sweeping across the American Northwest, Washington state lawmakers have tabled bill that would create a state-licensed program of medical treatment with psilocybin, the active ingredient in magic mushrooms.
The Psilocybin Wellness and Opportunity Act would legalize “assisted psilocybin experiences” for adults 21 and older who are allowed to consume psilocybin and psilocin-containing products, with the assistance of a trained, government-licensed service administrator, Marijuana Moment reported.

In October 2021, Seattle, the largest city in the state and northwest region, decriminalized the possession and personal use of natural psychedelic substances, starting a trend that is now spreading across the state.

The legislation is reminiscent of a program launched by neighboring Oregon in 2020 where a ballot enabled the creation of a state-licensed psilocybin therapy program that is now in the final stages of its two-year set-up phase.
