The solvent-free cannabis concentrates from Jetty Extracts
With casual smokers still in the dark about the definition of “solvent-free” before we get into this review of Jetty Extracts’ excellent new line of solvent-free concentrates, vapes and infused pre-rolls, let’s talk about what this really is for a . means to consider the product as solvent-free. If you’re already familiar with solvent-free products, move on to the juicy part of this product review.
What does “solvent-free” mean?
Solvent-free refers to a type of cannabis concentrate. When a non-concentrate product is labeled “solvent-free,” like a gummy bear or pre-roll, it means that the cannabis used in the product was extracted using the solvent-free extraction method.
Solvent extractions use a solvent such as CO2 or a hydrocarbon such as butane to separate the active ingredients from plant matter using advanced scientific equipment and are known as “extracts”. This process produces much purer substances such as resins, splinters, baths, etc. Solvent-free extractions, on the other hand, only use water, stirring, heat and pressure to separate the active ingredients from plant material and are called “concentrated”. These produce unrefined concentrates such as kief, Rosin, Dry Sift and Bubble Hash, which still contain a lot of plant material.
The misconception about solvent-free products lies in the assumption that they are healthier or better for you than solvent extractions because they don’t use chemicals to make them. That is not true. Solvent extractions actually produce cleaner, lighter extracts than solvent-free extractions, which are high in plant matter and, for the most part, harder to consume. While the concept that drives the public’s infatuation with solvent-free products may be flawed, that doesn’t mean that solvent-free is worse than solvent extractions. Both are good as long as the flower used in the extraction process is of high quality and the extractor knows what it is doing. Fire in, fire out, as they say.
First impression
Known as a solvent brand over the years, Jetty’s foray into solvent freeness is certainly a sign of the times. Unlike many solvent-free brands that don’t know what they’re doing and get flowers from questionable sources, Jetty is trustworthy, knowledgeable, and exactly the kind of brand you need for your trending concentrates.
My first impression of the new solvent-free line was literally, “Oh sick, Jetty now has a solvent-free line.” While I usually don’t care about extract brands going solvent-free, I’ve been a fan of Jetty long enough to remember how impressed was with his distillate products. Founded in 2013, Jetty is a real OG in the cannabis space so I naturally trust that all of the products it produces will be high quality and affordable.
Jetty’s solvent-free line consists of three product types: one-gram concentrates, one-gram vape cartridges, and infused pre-rolls. In today’s review, I am discussing the Papaya Live Rosin, the Banana Creme Vape Cartridge, and the Monster Cookies Flower x Garlic Cookies Hash Pre-Roll.
Papaya Live Rosin
The aroma of this Papaya Live Rosin is beautiful. Wild and spicy, it brims with fruity, playful aromas that invite you into a tropical secret. The color is soft and sunny, like the juice of a ripe mango. Together, the first experience makes me excited to try it out.
I dabbed it off with my Puffco Peak Pro over medium heat to experience the full variety of flavors. Fruity and earthy, my eyelids immediately became heavy. As I was writing this review, dizzying waves of excitement raced through my body, and I couldn’t wait to do something fun. This would be a great companion for a day off by the pool or hanging out with friends – any activity that lets you enjoy yourself and that amazing high to the full.
Banana cream cartridge
Full Disclosure: This is one of the best vape carts I’ve tried. Like all cartridges, the 1 gram banana cream trolley from Jetty has no flavor. It has a look, however, and an impressive one at that. With its dark wooden mouthpiece and light, honey-colored oil, everything about this cartridge screams for quality.
Fruity, exciting and dynamic, the taste of this cartridge transports you to a warm and windless beach. It made me completely rethink my attitude towards vaping as it’s usually not something I look forward to. The high hits immediately, lively and euphoric, and I feel relaxed and at ease while the rain is falling in front of my window pane.
Monster Cookie Flower x Garlic Cookies Hash Infused Pre-Roll
When I opened this pre-roll tube, an aromatic wave, spicy, earthy and sweet at the same time, made me happy as only good pre-rolls smell outside the paper. I took a dry drag and inhaled the joint before lighting it to experience the terpene profile, which was more earthy than anything and not quite as exciting as the smell. The structural integrity of the connection was solid, and it was a nice big connection too.
I lit it, which struck well but was a bit tight at first. The earthy, spicy taste of the dry hit carries over to the smoke, another sign of good smoke. Strong notes of myrcene and caryophyllene made me suspect I was about to fucking chill. Boring, relaxing, silly, and fun, this is a great pre-roll for relaxing after a long day and generally more geared towards enjoying the day at the end than at the beginning.

Bottom line
While solvent-free isn’t the panacea of new age concentrate consumption, the industry wants to believe it is, it’s still an incredible way to experience the plant in its most compressed and truest form. While solvents can produce purer extracts, nature never intended that the plant should be circulated or doused with butane before consumption. The fact that nothing touched these type of concentrates except ice water, heat, and pressure has some healing feel to it, so I see where the hype is coming from.
At the end of the day, Jetty Extracts is an extremely well-respected brand that is completely done with this solvent-free line, reminding us that the extraction and world at large is less about how you do it than about who it is done right.
