Why is mushroom microdosing all the rage right now?
Mushrooms are no longer limited to pizzas and vegan foods these days.
From Silicon Valley to Hollywood, stressed technicians, mothers, and anxious people have microdoses mushrooms to make life a little more bearable. And given its popularity, surely it has to work, right? Even therapists, celebrities, artists, and many types of professionals are turning to this natural medicine.
But why microdose?
Although the use of mushrooms as a psychedelic drug and because of their physical and mental healing properties in the west until 9000 BC. A mycologist or mushroom researcher named R. Gordon Wasson traveled to Mexico in 1955 to learn more about these incredible mushrooms.
He met a shaman who worked with the Mazatec tribe in Oaxaca, Mexico, and witnessed mushrooms being used in ritual ceremonies. He wrote about his findings in Life magazine, which was read by Timothy Leary, the most renowned proponent of LSD and other psychiatric drugs. Leary then began experimenting with mushrooms at Harvard University and was henceforth associated with the hippie movement. But because of the war on drugs, the benefits of magic mushrooms have been nullified and considered taboo – as has marijuana.
Fast forward to the current time, and more and more people are discovering the value of not just magic mushrooms but of taking such tiny amounts of the drug. Instead of going on a full-blown journey, microdosing magic mushrooms allows the user to experience an increased sense of creativity and clarity while helping with anxiety and depression. Many busy professionals and artists turn to it to make them more productive and creative, but the rest of us can also benefit from its mental benefits. Besides, who doesn’t suffer from anxiety and depression these days?
An article also appeared last month documenting mothers microdosing mushrooms, and they said it helped them improve motherhood. Natalie said that when she woke up, she took a 100 mg pill of magic mushrooms and then meditated before waking her daughter.
“I was very angry when I wanted to hurt my baby. Sometimes she wouldn’t stop crying and I was just so angry that I was scared for her, which made me want to kill myself because I was scared of hurting my child, “she said. But microdosing has helped her overcome the challenges of motherhood while being calmer at the same time.
Anecdotal evidence we have today suggests that microdosing magic mushrooms can help people treat a wide variety of conditions, from stress, anxiety, depression to addiction and major chronic illnesses.
Tons of money is put into in-depth research into the effects of magic mushrooms on the people of today, and we are reaping the benefits. But the research is still fairly new and the studies available are limited. Even so, when numerous people describe how it has been of tremendous help, it’s hard to ignore the benefits.
In an international survey, 79% of respondents confirmed that their mental health improved after microdosing. “To date, most quantitative microdosing studies have excluded people with a history of mental illness, reported no motivations for microdosing, and no study has examined the sociodemographic and other correlates of microdosing as therapies for mental health and substance use, or the sociodemographic and other correlates perceived mental health improvements that people attribute to microdosing, ”explains Toby Lea, the study author.
“Respondents who microdosed over a long period of time were also more motivated to microdose for mental health. This could suggest that microdosing is working for these people and that they may continue microdosing as ongoing therapy to replace or supplement psychiatric medications, some with the knowledge of their doctor and / or psychotherapist, ”said Leah and his team.
How much does a microdose of magic mushrooms cost?
Your preferred dose of magic mushrooms may be different from mine as we have to consider factors like weight, height and body chemistry. It affects everyone differently, just like weed. But in general, around 0.1-0.5 dried magic mushrooms should be enough.
Microdosing this amount should still keep you productive and comfortable without getting too high. Common effects of a full-blown mushroom trip include hallucinations, loud laughter, and shaky legs. But when that amount is small enough, it can make you feel more energetic mentally and physically, although it is also easy to notice how easily the fear leaves the building. It helps you have such a great day without doing much, you forgive others and yourself more, and maybe you just love everyone else around you more.
Microdosing
When you are ready to try mushrooms, there are a few things to keep in mind. For one, do not mix with other drugs, not even with alcohol. Psychedelics are powerful and extremely therapeutic, but mixing them with other substances is never a good idea. Ideally, you shouldn’t even be ingesting stimulants, including coffee, on the day you microdose.
Do this outside of work hours and be in a place where you can relax, although being in nature is recommended. If you want to start microdosing mushrooms for therapy, professional care is always ideal.
