We tried it: Cookies CBD Flower Review

I’m that perennial THC lover who hemp flowers can often fly under the radar for. Despite the expertise telling me otherwise, packing a bowl of hemp seeds can feel counter-intuitive. I often feel that my familiarity with cannabis is inextricably linked to my experience with THC and that smoking cannabis should constantly lead to some kind of high.

If my position is relatable, the CBD hemp bloom from Cookies could change our mind about hemp.

Historically, hemp has always been an industrial crop, taxonomically indistinguishable from cannabis, but with effects that are more likely to cause crisp headaches than a psychotropic excursion. But today’s hemp flowers are a world away from their industrial counterpart, and are far more in line with pharmacy cannabis in terms of looks, flavors, and terpene profiles. For example, the CBD flowers, which can be ordered online through cookies, are an ideal example of hemp’s chemical versatility. Visually indistinguishable from lace flowers, the curated hemp nuggets from Cookies are just as sugary, dense and strongly scented as normal THC flowers.

I auditioned the Monk Fruit strain of Cookies, a hybrid CBD-forward phenotype, and despite my own perceived expertise as a cannabis professional, I was rightly reminded of how much more there is to smoking cannabis than getting high .

First impressions

An eighth of Cookies CBD bloom costs $ 40, compared to an eighth of its THC offerings, which range from $ 50 to $ 60.

The simple and effective bright blue packaging bears the brand name in white cartoon letters. It’s a memorable branding that would be different from a room or cluttered shelf. Cookies currently carries three varieties of hemp flowers – each grown by Secret Nature – in these bold blue packaging. A silver sticker is all that sets any sack apart; the pockets are opaque, only the necessary general manufacturing information is stamped on the back and not even a window to attract potential customers.

That calculated and distinctive look is part of the appeal of cookies. The cheerful font of his logo, the special shade of blue that devours everything from the sacks of grass to the stationary store, to the affiliation of rapper Berner with the brand tell a story.

Cookies’ Monk Fruit CBD hemp flower

When I opened my eighth, I could see that the lumps had retained their constitution and only a fraction of the crumbs dusted the bottom of the bag. But the density of these buds wasn’t the first thing that intrigued me about this strain, what struck me first was the smell.

Aroma

The monk fruit variety of cookies has a gaseous, strong scent that’s so loud it practically yelled at me as soon as the bag’s seal was broken. There are top notes of sweet citrus, peppery wood, and resinous pine braided into a skunky, sun-baked diesel that could be significantly offensive to the untrained nose. For the consummate stoner, however, this is not just a familiar scent, but a complex aroma that suggests a robust entourage effect.

The appearance

The buds of the Monk Fruit variety of Cookies are tightly structured and deep green. It breaks apart easily but crumbles; it has an almost doughy resilience that makes it peel more like moonstones than cured cannabis flowers. Those buds would surely clog a grinder with its oily trichomes, so I broke open a bud with my fingers and packed a one hitter first instead of trying to roll my own spliff.

effects

Despite the aggressive scent, these buds have a floral exhale. A hint of pine and lemon remains on the palette, but only for a breath or two after the hit. Overall, I found the smoke mild and silky.

In a second round, I loaded it into a flower vaporizer. Again, inhalation was pure, although the phenotype skunk was far more toothy at low temperatures. When burned, the mouthfeel was extremely delicate. When vaping, it turned into a bite of funk that might excite a true cannaisseur, but a newbie may have a harder time tolerating it.

When I smoked during the day, I found the effects both profoundly valuable and barely noticeable – a slight relief of superficial pain, a slight sharpness during working hours, a lightening of the mood that turned the corner of my eyes upwards and made patience more accessible than usual however, if smoked before bed, this strain is a panacea for the sleeping potion. A couple of puffs as part of my bedtime made for a restful, restful sleep that is an absolute life hack for a restless sleeper like me.

Bottom line

For consumers who are still in the research stage of their cannabis journey, cookies can help become familiar with alternative cannabinoids. For more established stoners types, these nugs have legitimate therapeutic potency that makes them a top notch stash box supplement.

And while Cookies’ CBD buds won’t replace the THC nugs in my storage box anytime soon, for nights when sleep feels particularly evasive or days when non-high medication is required, I’ll be thrilled, to have them in my cannabis inventory.
