Canadian hash products to try this summer (hot knives not included)

Hash is the OG cannabis concentrate. You can smoke it in a pipe or joint, alone or mixed with weed, in a bong, or even on hot knives.

As a product, hash is anything but new, but a multitude of new market offers has sparked new interest in this retro item. From coast to coast, Canadian cannabis users cannot get enough of this concentrate.

What is old is new again

Hashish – or hashish – is made by compressing trichomes (also known as kief) of the cannabis plant to create a resinous concentrated product, and because of its concentrated THC content, offers stronger effects than flowers. Nowadays, hash is made in a number of ways, including dry sifting, ice water (bubble hash), or solvent.

For consumers like Doug @TheGuyFromWpg, hash products are just picking up steam.

“With all the products that are coming out, it looks like someone sees a future in selling hashish,” he told Leafly.

“Canna Farms was the first with their bubble hash, but it’s only been the last year or so that we have seen Embark with the Hank / Hazel hashes, Good Buds with a variety of hash products, JC Green has a product, even Hexo, TGOD and OD Tilray has cheap hash products, ”he said.

Doug says that as we start to see some variety out there, he definitely sees more coming.

“As with other extracts and concentrates, the industry is still in its infancy.”

Igor Kolpak, CEO of Budders Cannabis, says that because of the quality and price, he has seen a lot more old consumers try hash from recreational stores.

“One particular brand that stands out for these two reasons would be the OS hash,” he tells Leafly. “Our store stocks almost all of the hash options available and we are really impressed with the LPs that make hash. Wagner has just launched a new 4g bar soap option that is popular with some of our regulars. “

For licensed manufacturers, the demand means that there will continue to be innovations and new products on the market.

“Tilray plans to expand our concentrates on our brand portfolio in response to consumer feedback and emerging format and grade trends,” Bernie Yeung, SVP of Sales and Marketing, Tilray, Inc. told Leafly.

Yeung says the company has seen its hash catching on quickly with consumers with the recent launch of Good ol’Hash, a traditional pressed hash product from its Good Supply brand.

“Our Good ol’Hash is a best-selling Good Supply product – a huge win considering it rivals some of our best dried flower products,” he says.

Here are some recommendations if you want to try today’s hashish (hot knives not included).
