You can get a free joint if you get vaccinated in Washington state

To encourage vaccinations and speed up the process, Washington State has passed a Joints for Jabs policy that allows adults to get a free joint with their COVID-19 vaccination.

This policy has been approved by the state’s Liquor and Cannabis Board (LCB) and allows people to get a free pre-rolled joint when they get their first or second vaccination at a clinic near a state-licensed cannabis retailer.

The joint must be claimed at the time of vaccination. The Joints for Jabs policy will remain in effect until July 12th, and retailers will be able to advertise their participation in the promotion.

According to the LCB, cannabis retailers had asked permission to participate in promotions in support of government vaccinations.

“The LCB provided dozens of certificates to alcohol and cannabis licensees during the COVID pandemic to assist businesses during the embargo and support vaccine efforts,” explains a press release. “Recently, the vaccinated were granted a grant for a free beer, wine or cocktail until June 30th.”

Only people aged 21 and over can participate in this promotion and only pre-rolls will be given out for free. Edibles, bongs, and other ways of consuming marijuana are not included in the offer.

Almost half of the people in Washington state have been vaccinated, but like other states, governments are developing creative ways to involve reluctant people in the vaccination process.

States trying to get people to get their COVID-19 vaccination include Arizona, New York, Ohio, and more. Prizes are varied, including free beer, wine, cocktails, Krispy Kreme donuts, and lottery prizes. The state of West Virginia offers students scholarship opportunities, trucks, and even hunting pistols and rifles.
