8 of the best strains for focus
It’s 12:47 PM and you have a lot of work that you avoided. You know none of the tasks are too difficult, but for some reason you just can’t sit still and focus long enough to get them done. Even so, the sunlight is ticking, the stress builds up, and you know that if you have nothing to show for the day, you’ll feel like hot trash. You think, “All I have to do is smoke some weed and I can interfere.”
Which varieties do you choose?
There are many strains of cannabis that can help you focus. And with so many constant distractions in the world, I wouldn’t blame you for trying them all out. While I could never name each one, here are eight that could help you block out the noise long enough to get shit done.
White fire first floor
White Fire OG, also known as WiFi OG, is a cross between Fire OG and The White. The buds are light green and frosty with trichomes, and the smoke tastes like puffy pine needles – perfect for anyone who loves Chemmy Diesel flavors. On the other hand, WiFi OG is great for people whose minds are always moving at 744 mph. It’s a powerful but manageable high that can help clear your mind of anything that’s not immediately in front of you.
Lemon Thai
Most strains with Thai genetics are good for a clean high that can help you get past procrastination. Lemon Thai is no different. A cross of a Thai landrace and a Hawaiian sativa, this citrus strain is great for anyone caught with that delay in the middle of the day that makes even simple tasks seem daunting. If you’re one of those consumers who enjoys smoking on a vape pen all day, Lemon Thai is a great cart to have on hand.
Jack Frost
When you talk about strains that will help you focus, it is only right that we bring Jack to the table. Jack Frost, a cross between the famous Jack Herer, Northern Lights # 5, and White Widow, is for those who need to get dumb to focus. It hits you with a strong high that will make you cross the day’s to-do list with no hassle. Like most strains with Jack genetics, it usually has a lemony and earthy aroma, but some people report that it can have a slightly fruity smell too.
Dutch treat
Allegedly a cross of Northern Lights and Haze genetics, Dutch Treat displaces strong pine terpenes that alert your senses in much the same way that a hike through the woods does.
The delicious taste is followed by strong, clear cerebral stimulation that many refer to as a “hybrid high”. Old school and tasty, Dutch Treat is a perfect proposition for the dabber.
Canna-tsu
As your cannabis knowledge bag gets deeper, you will find that not every desired effect comes from THC. There are many strains of CBD that can also help you focus.
Canna-Tsu is a CBD-dominant cross of Cannatonic and Sour Tsunami. It has sweet, earthy aromas and the effect is relaxing on the body. I get a little anxious at times and anything with cannatonic genetics usually cools me down in a way that smoking too much THC doesn’t. If you’re looking for something light and manageable, these (or one of its parents) are solid options.
Yah Goo
The ability to concentrate is often not about energizing yourself or clearing your mind, but rather about relaxing your body. Jah Goo is a great strain for doing just that.
This cross of Goo and Purple Jasmine produces brightly colored flowers with purple hues and pink hairs and a slightly sweet and woody taste. The strain’s rocky high may be a little too much for inexperienced users, but vets may find it just right for smoking at 10 a.m. before they flip the go switch.
Bay dream
If you love Granddaddy Purple you might also love Bay Dream – it comes from the same breeders. Bay Dream, or GDP Bay Dream, is a cross between the popular Blue Dream and a Bay 11 hybrid. Like Blue Dream, it has a sweet taste profile, but it also has woody and pine-like properties. The cerebral high creates a nice, long-lasting euphoria that helps people get active on anything that needs to be done before 5pm
Harle-Tsu
Harle-Tsu is another CBD strain for consumers who don’t want to get high but still want the benefits of smoking weed. As the name suggests, it is a cross of Harlequin and Sour Tsunami, two of the most famous CBD flowers. If you’re looking for flavor, look elsewhere because Harle-Tsu is pretty earthy and bland; but when you are here for the effects this strain usually makes people relax in the body and focus in the mind.
