5 strains will be in pharmacies in July 2022

The Drop is Danté Jordan’s column that rounds up all the must-have strains from brands that ignite superfires. This month’s column covers upcoming releases from Wizard Trees x Deep East, Fig Farms, Winners Circle Genetics and more.

You know the game. A new month and a fresh list of strains worth your time, money, and lungs.

Here are five strains hitting pharmacies in July.

Wizard Trees x Deep East: Zoap

Zoap won the Best Overall trophy at the Zalympix Championship this year, so be sure to check it out whenever you can. Zoap is a cross between Rainbow Sherbert and Pink Guava. She was bred and selected by Deep East (DEO Farms) and grown by Wizard Trees. Zoap has been in the works since winter 2015; Deep East grew the strain for three years before giving part to Wizard Trees on some ahh ahh ahh, gang-gang shit.

As you can guess from its genetics, Zoap has a mix of sugar gas and floral aromas. Speaking of the Zoap experience, Wizard Trees’ Scott said, “I’ve smoked thousands of phenotypes from all different seed stocks. When I first smoked Zoap I knew it would change my life. This is by far the most enjoyable strain I’ve ever smoked, both in taste and in the high.”

You can catch Zoap all over California, but especially at the location of Cookies Melrose.

Fig Farms: Moonana Wreck

Fig Farms goes mute. I first tried its bloom a few years ago when I burned down an eighth of Blue Face. Shit got me dumb stoned. Everything I’ve had of it since has been of the same quality, especially the Moonana wreck.

Moonana Wreck was originally bred by Fig Farms in May 2020. It is a cross between Banana Fig and Moon Drops 103 #1 and the flower smells and tastes quite lemony. Fig Farms describes this flavor as a mix of “melon rind, blue Gatorade, and Aquafresh toothpaste.”

Fig Farms’ Moonanan Wreck produces some big buttocks. From the looks of them I was expecting to be knocked down, but instead the high was what people call uplifting. Just woke me up a bit and gave me an overall great daytime high before catching a flight to Europe. Speaking of the expected effects of consuming Moonana Wreck, Fig Farms said: “The high stimulates your mind and helps with creativity; Overall, there is a feeling of bliss and relief that spreads throughout your body.”

Moonana Wreck is dropping across California and will be available in Illinois and Arizona later this year.

Winner Circle Genetics: 1942

This Birkinz by Winners Circle Genetics is insane. That’s PB&J. So when it comes to their newest strain, 1942, you can expect the same.

1942 was bred in-house and Winners Circle Genetics has been working to find a keeper for three years. 1942 reeks of woody terpenes and gas. When you taste her you will discover an extra sweetness that gives the strain a very unique profile. As for the effects to expect, Winners Circle Genetics said, “With her calming vibes and tingly body high, this is a perfect strain to enjoy while relaxing on the couch after work.”

1942 will be available at Winners Circle Genetics dispensary in July, as well as Cookies Oakland, Lighthouse in Coachella Valley and The Coachella Releaf.

Trinitrees Farm: Cherry Pie

Family. Do you remember the first time you smoked cherry pie? How did it feel? Shit, you were so high you had to get down on the floor in the downward-facing dog position to take control of yourself, right? I’m here to tell you that the classic feel you get from an actual cherry pie is available at Trinitrees Farm.

Cherry Pie is about a minute ago – it’s a cross between Granddaddy Purple and F1 Durban. As you can imagine, it has sweet, cherry, and earthy flavors. What makes Trinitrees Cherry Pie so special is its 4.20% terpene content. You can smell it as soon as you enter the same room with a bag full.

Cherry pie smacks behind the bold terps. It hit me with that heavy BIP relaxation that makes me want to take a nap before my body is ready to do anything else. If you’re in California, be sure to keep an eye out for Trinitrees’ Cherry Pie or Trinitrees’ Cherry Pie Cartridge, made in partnership with Chemistry. If not, the brand’s Blueberry Muffins are stunning, too.

Racquets: apples and bananas

Sluggers is a new brand from Natura. It has two types of joints and blunts: JUICED*, which is triple-infused, and Natural: Just Grass, which is all flower. Each type is available in a total of nine strains.

I snagged some Sluggers gifts on my way out of Hall of Flowers: Palm Springs in May. Out of all, this Natural: Just Grass 2G Blunt was the best champion. The shit burned smooth through and through – and the taste was incredible. After beating Sluggers to see what was in the blunt, I was pleased to discover it was Apples and Bananas and that Sluggers is releasing it in July.

Apples and Bananas isn’t a new strain, but it’s definitely on fire if you get it from the right breeders. It was originally developed from a collaboration between Compound Genetics and Cookies.

Apples and Bananas is a cross between Platinum Cookies and Granddaddy Purple that has a fruity and gassy taste. If you haven’t had Apples and Bananas before, this Sluggers Blunt is an excellent way to finally try it.
