What are hemp therapies?

Hemp Therapies is a new LLC based in Colorado that is run by an Australian through a non-resident LLC. We manufacture under license from our Colorado supplier.

They are all about GMP or good manufacturing practice, can you explain what that means for the consumer?

GMP in the CBD industry means everything as the market is flooded with crude oil-based alcohol-extracted products of low quality. It doesn’t stop at GMP I firmly believe in compliance and transparency and since we use a licensed manufacturer we have access to a government approved testing facility that is linked to the METRC system. https://www.metrc.com/

How did you get into the hemp industry for the first time, what made you decide to start the company?

I already became involved in 2016 as an Australian distributor for Elixinol and the European brand Endoca. In October 2017, CBD became a List 4 prescription drug in Australia and is still sold as medical cannabis in Australia well above the international market price to this day. This has created all sorts of problems for consumers as they have to pay between $ 200 and $ 400 for a telemedicine consultation to get the prescription and then up to $ 600 for 500 mg of CBD. The problem is exacerbated by the fact that many doctors receive dosage training on active cannabis and dose during that training, but then do not use active CBD. An example of this is someone with arthritis who advises them to start with 1 to 2 drops daily with a 500 mg oil in 50 ml or 1% CBD.

I was actually searched and arrested in May 2017 and the Elixnol products along with Endoca-sized and I spent 18 months in court. On the day of the raid, I was actually in the hospital and the police came to my hospital bed to confiscate my car from crime, but it was returned after my trial was over. I ended up closing in October 2017 when large pharmaceutical companies took over and turned CBD into a prescription product.

I founded the LLC in 2020 but spent the majority of 12 months working on compliance and managing access to banking. It’s well documented that banks disapprove of our industry, but the fact that I’m a non-resident made things worse. I have a great lawyer in Colorado who helped me finally open an account.

My urge to start with it was to glue it to the government in Australia, but I’m also upset that the market is saturated with low strength ethanol-extracted oils. I offer c02-extracted products between 10% and 15% and have also developed products with non-standard carrier oils. We offer the traditional MCT oil, but I also like the results of combining CBD with black seed oil and a product combined with Carbon 60 fullerenes (c60). The problem with the c60 is that the carrier oil is $ 400 per liter compared to $ 15 MCT and $ 25 black seed oil, but the results I see with Parkinson’s justify developing the product, but we do As you know, they are not allowed to make any health claims. I am happy to send you samples.

I am not a fan of ethanol extraction methods and I feel like we are moving away from developing CBD to provide a cleaner alternative to cannabis for children. With ethanol it reduces the cost and in my opinion the quality of the product, but there are many who would dispute this point.

What visions and ideas for the future did the Farm Bill 2018 bring for the company?

I was in the industry for almost 3 years before the law was passed in December 2018 and if that law had not been passed I would not have this opportunity. His end result gave credibility to the industry and opened the door to consumers, farmers and manufacturers in the US and many parts of the world. Unfortunately, many countries and regions still do not differentiate between cannabis and industrial hemp, as we see it to this day in Australia and what is happening this second in Dubai with Billy Hood and his 25-year prison sentence for CBD.

For me it was the banking and trading facilities. When you have the right supplier who is licensed, all else is not a challenge.

What was a mistake you made in business that you wish you could “overtake”?

When I started Endoca, I bought crude oil and mixed it with the carrier oils and at that time I was using hemp seed oil as the carrier oil. Since hemp seed oil is a protein, it caused a negative reaction from one of my clients who used beta / protein blockers and I have never used it since.

What advice would you give to someone preparing to start a hemp or cannabis business today?

Only work with licensed suppliers, manufacturers, and distributors who have quality products that your family would love to use.

Hire a reputable lawyer and invest in compliance. Lots of people skip this, but compliance and transparency are selling points and if you invest in a good attorney and tick all the boxes set by the FDA, that investment will pay off.

Learn more about dietary supplements and integrative medicine. When I ran in Australia, I referred people to integrative doctors for treatments like vitamin C infusions, infrared sauna sessions, and more. There are also many nutritional supplements that work well with CBD. So find out about these and refer your customers to reputable suppliers like iherb. For example, I’m going to get someone with arthritis to take black pepper turmeric and refer to Iherb. Learn more about diet because you will encounter people with cancer and their diet will also play a role. CBD is a great tool, but if we really want people to see benefits and improve their quality of life, then create holistic plans for your clients.

When do you think we will see full legalization of cannabis at the federal level?

Cannabis like CBD products are a threat to many pharmaceutical products and medical processes, so we face a long battle due to the resources of competition and adversaries. It reminds me of the movie Moneyball, in which Billy Beane is interviewed with the Boston owner.
