The Drop: 11 new weed strains for April 2022

This month from The Drop, Dante Jordan’s column that rounds up all the must-have strains from the best brands and breeders, looks at anticipated releases from THC Design, Blaqstar Farms, Maven Genetics, Grizzly Peak and many more.

Fresh month, fresh grass. Here are 11 strains coming to pharmacy menus in April 2022.

THC Design: Glazed Apricot Gelato

Glazed Apricot Gelato by THC Design is a limited edition so grab it now – this will be his only edition. Glazed Apricot Gelato is a cross between Gelato and Legend Orange Apricot.

The flower is fruity and gassy on the nose and deliciously lemony on the taste buds. The effects leave me feeling insanely relaxed from head to toe, which is great if you’re just going to rock it before bed.

Not great for 9:37 a.m. before the workday. I learned that the hard way. Boy was lifted for hours, dog.

Burb: beaver tail

Yo, this Beaver Tail from Burb is freaking delicious. It’s fruity, smooth and creamy. Lowkey, it’s a bit like smoking sweet berry syrup or something similarly sweet.

Beaver Tail’s terpene profile is dominated in limonene, myrcene, caryophyllene, and linalool. The effects aren’t exactly sedating, but the high will definitely switch your brain from “I should go to the gym” mode to “jump shoulders to sit in the sun for hours is good for my health too.”

Blaqstar Farms: The Force

Blaqstar Farms grow great flowers and they really have something special with their Treestars infused mini cigars. In April, the Californian brand will release The Force.

The Force is a cross between Skywalker OG and Joseph OG that has a classic funky, lemony and fluffy taste. The effect can be described as an energetic feel-good mood, but is still somewhat sedating in high doses. Shit had me staring into the natural sunlight of my apartment for over four hours and thinking, “Being a plant wouldn’t be so bad.”

Candy Paint Flowers: The Grape Depression

Candy Paint Flowers kills this grape flavored weed game. This month you can smoke his newest heater: The Grape Depression.

Candy Paint said The Grape Depression tasted like grape candy and was dominated by linalool. You can expect her to hit you with a long-lasting, full-body high. So basically you get beaten by the DG.

Maven Genetic’s Grape Cuvee flower was life changing. So much so that I had to see what was good in April. White dahlia is coming.

It’s a cross between Pure Michigan F2 and Medusa that smells like cream, pine, citrus and pepper – the flavor comes out with a bit of gas too. White Dahlia’s top terpenes are caryophyllene, myrcene, limonene, humulene, and linalool. Expect the effect to hit your body with a deep dose of sleepy and relaxed feelings.

Viola: Iverson ’01

Viola’s Iverson ’96 was great. Now the brand is releasing Michigan Iverson ’01. Iverson ’01 is an indica-dominant hybrid of F1 Durban, Gushers, and Runtz. It has a fruity smell, with an added gassy taste.

Iverson ’01 terpenes are rich in geraniol, pinene, myrcene, caryophyllene, and limonene. Michigan folks should snag this new Iverson if they want a perfect decompression-of-the-day strain. It is definitely a calming strain.

Grizzly Peak: Black Scotti

I’ve never had a bad strain from Grizzly Peak. No cap. none. And in April you can snag fresh Black Scotti. A cross between Biscotti and GP’s in-house Zhit, she became Grizzly Peak’s #1 Selling Indica of 2022.

The flower is dark purple and the taste can be described as sweet and earthy. Its three main terpenes are caryophyllene, limonene, and linalool. Black Scotti smokers should expect a couch-locking body high.

LOWD: Hash Burger

If you’re up in Oregon, you can catch a hash burger from Lowd. Lowd has been heavily into burger flavors and genetics lately, and they told me that Hash Burger tastes like a burger and looks like hash.

The extremely potent effect is described as a one-hitter quitter, so if you’ve been fighting with a high tolerance, Lowd’s Hash Burger might be the flower you need.

Babby Powder is a new collaboration between Cookies x Khalifa Kush. It is a cross between Khalifa Kush and Georgia Pie. On the nose, they say it’s strong gas, pistachio cream and a nutty chocolate ice cream flavor.

To me, it had a funky kushy smell and a creamy, soapy taste. The high was quite relaxing and chilled. Right now you can only buy eighths of Babby Powder – pre-rolls are coming soon.

Greenline: Orange tree

Orange Tree is a legendary California strain. It was originally bred by Greenline’s Roy Adams, and now Greenline is establishing its new era. Orange Tree is a cross between 24K Gold, Orange Valley and Tangie Kush. It smells and tastes like oranges, pure.

The flower terpenes test for caryophyllene, myrcene, humulene, and limonene. Orange Tree is a great smoke anytime, but know that large quantities will set you back. Greenline describes its effects as a “nice uplifting high with great body relaxation.”

High 90s: White Fire OG

High 90s is best known for their wax-infused prerolls. However, its flower is hot – especially this Double Cupcake. In April, High 90s gives people a blast from the past with White Fire OG.

White Fire OG (also called WiFi/WiFi OG) is a cross between Fire OG and The White. This classic hybrid is known for its powerful high that leaves you relaxed, happy, and exalted. If High 90s’ other strains are any indication of quality, then their White Fire OG will be some fire, too.
