The best cocktails to get you through the week

As the new year starts with a bang, here are some cocktails to take off.

The new year is just around the corner – return to work guidelines, the Los Angeles fires, snowstorms, and the sheer need to work are killing the excitement of starting 2025. Now, it's not a good or healthy solution to to drink away your problems, but sometimes a sip of something helps. January is already known to be a somewhat depressing month, with post-holiday gloomy moods, cold weather, shorter daylight hours, and the possibility of increased financial stress following the holiday rush. Here are the best cocktails to get you through the week.

Paloma

What better way to start the year with a semi-healthy drink? The Paloma with tequila and juice is reasonably healthy. Good tequila is low in calories, has a low impact on the body and, along with a large dose of vitamin C, helps make the dark days a little brighter.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces tequila
  • 1/2 ounce Lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 4 ounces grapefruit soda, chilled, on top
  • pinch of salt
  • Garnish: Lime wheel

Create

  1. Add tequila, lime juice and a pinch of salt to the glass and fill with ice.
  2. Top up with grapefruit soda and stir briefly and carefully.
  3. Garnish with a lime wheel.

The spaghetti

Although beer consumption has declined as people move to California sober, it is still very popular. Why now combine it with a favorite drink (Aperol Spritz and beer) for a refreshing and low-alcohol treat? Try it, you will like it.

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces light beer like Miller High Life
  • 1 ounce Campari

Create

  1. Drink a large sip of chilled beer, about 30 ml
  2. Pour Campari into a beer bottle
  3. Enjoy

Cucumber cleaning

While friends talk about Dry January, Wet January, Winter Bow and more, you can brag about the fact that you're doing a cleanse. The lemon and cayenne pepper juice cleanse is popular, you just add a personal touch to it to make it fit at happy hour or a tailgate. For the ginger syrup, add 110 g of peeled ginger and let it steep for 30 minutes. Strain and use.

  • 2 ounces Absolut vodka
  • 3/4 ounce fresh cucumber juice
  • 1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 ounce ginger syrup
  • 1/4 ounce honey
  • 1 egg white
  • Sprinkle of ground cayenne pepper

Create

  1. Place all ingredients in a shaker and shake dry (without ice) until frothy
  2. Add ice and shake again until well chilled
  3. Strain into a cocktail glass
  4. Garnish with a pinch of ground cayenne pepper
