Scoobie Doobies – Modern day cartoon characters who enjoyed the herb without you knowing

Not many know that cannabis lovers are featured in cartoons and animation. And I’m not referring to recent cartoon productions; I’m talking about the classics.

Cannabis has been embedded in our collective cultures for hundreds of years. At this point, we can only conclude that it’s part of everyone’s DNA. Not just ours, but apparently those of our cartoon characters as well. Over the years, cartoon creators have found ways to subtly and explicitly portray cannabis users in cartoons. Some creators have done a fantastic job without using the typical stereotype associated with cannabis users.

Many will admit that the first depiction of cannabis they saw in a cartoon was a scene of Popeye sipping spinach, or should I say weed? In fact, cannabis had been included in the cartoon long before this scene aired. It only takes a stoner to see yourself in the sexiest characters on screen. If you don’t use cannabis yourself, but have friends or family who do, you may have spotted the cannabis scenes in these classic cartoons as well.

Seven characters in classic animation and cartoons

These characters are portrayed as relatable cannabis lovers. They smoke weed, and there’s no doubt about that when you analyze how they’re getting through the aftermath. If you’re still in doubt, here are some examples of cartoon characters who smoked. Luckily, cable TV and streaming channels are still showing these classics. you could check them out

Nothing works here! Note that I’ve included the trunks as well. I assume they blew. You could try them.

Patrick SpongeBob

SpongeBob SquarePants: Patrick

That shouldn’t surprise anyone.

Patrick was portrayed as a simple, affable, and cuddly stoner. He’s a friend you’ll want to get high with because you can both do silly things, watch crazy movies, eat a plateful of your favorite foods, and even make memes with him. And when it’s time to sleep, you could both mutter a bunch of nonsense to each other until you laugh yourself to sleep. I can’t guarantee he won’t tickle you until you lose yourself too.

Patrick’s tribe: He feels like a stoner who loves full-spectrum, high-THC cannabis strains. I bet he keeps a stash of Harlequin in his Bikini Bottom quarters somewhere. Get some Harlequin products to be a Patrick.

Otto the bus driver

The Simpsons: Otto

Otto is the primary school bus driver. My favorite scene with Otto has to be the time he stumbled out of a restaurant called Stoner’s Pot Palace and muttered about the whole concept being blatant false advertising. This scene will always be funny.

Otto’s Strain: Otto appears to be more of an aspiring stoner, despite being portrayed as a model character. I think Otto only smokes top-notch flowers. Most likely a member of the Cheese family. Find some cheeses to feel like Otto.

Frye Futurama

Futurama: Roast

Born in the ’80s, Philip J. Fry lived in New York City, delivered pizzas on his bicycle and was part of a break-dance crew. He also had a beautiful dog. All of this points to the fact that he’s the character that everyone has hitched with on an acrylic bong. He probably used cannabis to unleash his creativity.

Fry’s tribe: I guess it was a northern lights beetle that was bred somewhere in the neighborhood. You can get Northern Lights strains at pharmacies near you.

marceline stoner

Adventure Time: Marceline

Marceline the vampire queen was spreading some cool creative stoner vibes. If you listen to their vocalizations, you’ll understand where that’s coming from. Marceline has beautifully constructed a ball that expresses her strong feelings about her parents’ abandonment. Her epic ballad told the parable of a man who steals his daughter’s fresh and delicious french fries.

She seriously perfected the iconic creative stoner act.

Marceline’s tribe: I guess her favorite variety was the Red Congolese. That’s about the only strain I can put my finger on to help with her stoner-art-lady personality.

Arnold

Hey Arnold!: Grandpa Phil

One look at Grandpa Phil, or a careful listening to whatever conversation he had, will reveal just how much of a stoner he was. The elderly man made several statements throughout the film, pointing out how much he loved cannabis. Something tells me that he joined the hippie group when he was young, as he always mentioned that he lost quite a few brain cells at that stage in his life.

Grandpa Phil’s variety: He must be a fan of Purple Chemdog. However, a few Hey Arnold fans are saying it could be the Alaskan Thunderfuck. Whatever it is, it definitely has the right effects on Grandpa Phil, otherwise he would have shut up about pot and weed. If you want what Grandpa Arnold had, now you know where to look: Chemdog strains or Alaskan Thunderfuck strains.

chewing gum

The Amazing World of Gumball: Richard Watterson

Richard played the traditional stoner stereotype. But this time, the stoner was a father of three. The makers of this cartoon got the expected attributes of a stoner and let Richard embody them. He ate everything, slept anytime, anywhere, and was an airhead.

Richard Watterson was the perfect stoner guard who loved weed and his family. Healthy stoner dads will recognize a little of themselves in Richard, the main character’s father.

Richard’s tribe: He’s acting like a father who has taken a hit of a white papaya in preparation for the long day of fatherhood.

Clarence Chad

Clarence: Chad

This is another father figure on Cartoon Network. In one or two scenes, the inside audience got a glimpse of Chad’s weed stash. The first was in season one when a father and son went on a camping trip. An open box revealed a clear ziplock bag half filled with leaves.

Chad’s hot temper made the series fun and wholesome.

Chad’s tribe: He probably has some Pineapple Express strains in his pocket. But I can’t be sure.

So there you have it!

These are seven classic animated characters who most likely get a hit of their favorite strains every day. Other cartoon characters worth noting are the misfits in Jem and the Holograms, Michelangelo in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Brian in Family Guy, Speedy Gonzalez from Looney Tunes and definitely Shaggy in Scooby-Doo.
