Republicans pissed Democrats over legalizing marijuana

Just because the Democrats were embarrassed about Republican law doesn’t mean it’s over.

It was a layup.

It was the “greatest sure-fire success in the history of the world,” as the old mortgage advertising put it.

The Democrats won the presidency, the House of Representatives, and joined the Senate with Democratic Vice President Harris as the casting vote.

The legalization of marijuana was a done deal, President Biden only had to announce that he and his staff were drafting a comprehensive cannabis legalization law that would remove the kinks in banking, interstate trade, social affairs and of course federal taxation. Voters all wanted it, with 78% Democrats and 66% Republicans advocating some form of federal marijuana reform, including SAFE BANKING, and the enactment of the IRS 280E Tax Act.

Then there was silence in the marijuana fields of America from President Biden and VP Harris. Also with VP Harris, a co-sponsor of the SAFE Banking Act, barbecues from the top of the White House office. How did the Democrats fumble this simple win and win round from the American people? Perhaps President Biden, who had been an ardent supporter of the war on drugs for over 45 years in his political career, just couldn’t get on with legalizing the devil’s salad. Maybe it was “why rush” what are Republicans going to try to legalize weed ???

A young Republican Senator from South Carolina just “dropped the microphone” on the gray-haired Democrat. Republican Senator Mace not only stole marijuana legalization from the fiddling Democrats, she also tabled a bill that, according to figureheads of the marijuana industry on various fronts, is a lot of common sense. Not only did she come up with a weed legalization bill, but a damn good one that Democrats should have been thinking of over a year ago.

Senator Mace has announced that her interest is also personal as she is a rape victim who used cannabis as a cure during the traumatic recovery journey.

Game, sentence, game, Republican?

What can the Democrats do now?

Here’s a list of smart, competent things the Democrats should be doing now that the Republicans are about to steal their round of winning cannabis legalization.

First, don’t attack the sponsor of the bill. A freshman, a senator introducing a sensible legalization law with a personal story to back up the idea, is about something untouchable the way you can get it, regardless of which side of the island you live on.

Second, acknowledge that the bill is smart and prudent, say it covers a lot of areas that you have overlooked, but you want it with the current COA bill presented by NY Senator Schumer, and too merge with the Safe Banking Act, co. – sponsored by VP Harris and Senator Booker. The nation will have a law and structure that legalizes cannabis at the federal level, if 80% of it comes from Senator Maces’ bill and 20% from the Democrats, it doesn’t matter in the end, just hop in and hire Call it a “bipartisan agreement” as harshly as possible in the news clips and press releases because in the end it will be a bipartisan agreement.

Third, Spin City says you waited for Republicans to legislate for cannabis, it was all part of your plan. Now a majority of Republican senators cannot step down from their own party’s bill. For example, suppose you knew Senator Schumer’s bill wasn’t going to go through Republican mustard, so you were waiting for Republican marijuana law to be passed, and that played right into your hands to get marijuana legalization through. In reality this is a farce as the President, House of Representatives and Senate are technically democratic and this combination could have legalized marijuana in some form within 6 months of taking control of the White House, but unfortunately this is a political one Spin city. so do your best.

Twenty-two Republican governors are heads of state with legal marijuana programs and are available for election over the next 24 months. Voter approval for medical marijuana is off the charts on either side of the island. Recreational marijuana is a little more controversial with Conservatives and Republicans, but voters want it, so give people what they want and you’ll get re-elected.

The Democrats have fumbled the simplest slam dunk in their last 25 years in power and a smart and tactical Republican move to end and maintain their glory of marijuana legalization. But it’s not over yet and the signatures are not yet a legalization bill, it is not too late for the Democrats to join the Macee’s Day Parade which is coming down Marijuana Avenue and at least saving face as the party that marijuana during a democratic executive branch has legalized branch.

Just as Germany informed Europe by legalizing recreational marijuana, Republicans informed Democrats about marijuana reform.

Your move, Nancy and Chuck
