Names of retailers suing BC government

The names of the 14 retailers suing the BC government are now out. Earlier this week, a group of anonymous cannabis traffickers filed a lawsuit against the BC government over the government’s failure to enforce cannabis regulations.

While businesses in the cities enjoy a steady flow of customers, rural areas are hit with unlicensed businesses on Indian reservations. The lawsuit argues, “As a result of the defendants’ failure to enforce the Cannabis Control and Licensing Act, the plaintiffs have each suffered and continue to suffer damages in the form of lost income and losses.”

The BC government admits it has failed to enforce cannabis regulations on First Nations land. British Columbia Minister of Public Safety Mike Farnworth said, “Enforcement action on First Nations lands without the support of community leadership is likely to result in litigation and strain relationships with First Nations communities.”

The lawsuit does not name the plaintiffs, but does list their BC incorporation number. These numbers can be looked up on a BC government business register website.
