Launch of cannabis telemedicine in Montana

Telemedicine is a modern solution to health problems for people in rural parts of the world and now there is cannabis telemedicine too. People in Montana now have access to a platform called NuggMD that virtually connects licensed medical marijuana doctors with patients.

NuggMD, an established medical cannabis telemedicine platform, is launching its service in Montana. People who want to become patients only need to clear the $129 barrier of entry to use the service. The platform is already being used by physicians and patients in California, Connecticut, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia.

Despite its rural population, Montana does well when it comes to legal cannabis. They achieved record sales of over $17.2 million spent on recreational cannabis and over $7 million spent on medicinal cannabis in June, totaling nearly $25 million in cannabis sales alone corresponds to the month. The total for the year to date is $148 million. The highest cannabis sales are in Yellowstone County, which hit $4.1 million in June, 32% of which was recreational. By the opening weekend of legal cannabis sales in the state, the total had already hit $1.5 million.

“Yellowstone’s success makes it clear that cannabis has been a huge boon to Montana’s tourism industry,” said Alex Milligan, CMO and co-founder of NuggMD. “But the state’s medical market is still strong because the program offers significant benefits to Montana patients.”

In Montana, medical patients can purchase the same amount of cannabis as recreational users, but there are still some perks. They can buy stronger cannabis and save 16% on their sales taxes. You can also grow twice as many crops and, like many other legal and medical states, go to specialty medical-only dispensaries, which is a huge bonus for those who don’t live near a major city with many resorts.

“It’s easy to see why, despite the legalization of recreational products, so many Montanans still carry medical marijuana cards,” said Collin Mann, CEO and co-founder of NuggMD. “We are excited to join the Montana cannabis community and offer them the best service in the state.”

Anyone wishing to use the NuggMD platform can log in seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. local time. No appointment is required, and those who don’t end up qualifying for a medical cannabis card will not be charged for the doctor’s visit.

In addition to taking medical patients seriously, the state is working to overturn past convictions to heal the damage caused by the war on drugs. As such, the state has done the work to resolve these charges and provide resources to those who are struggling. A deletion ruling issued by the state Supreme Court says that “anyone convicted of a crime that would now be legal in the state may request that their conviction be removed from their record, have their sentence reduced, or have their sentence reduced criminal offense is reclassified”.

“From the beginning, I knew we needed to devote more resources to fighting the drug epidemic that is ravaging our communities,” Republican Gov. Greg Gianforte said of the state’s introduction of legal cannabis. “The HEART Fund funds a full continuum of substance abuse prevention and treatment programs for communities and provides renewed support for Montanans who want to get clean, sober and healthy.”

As more cannabis resources find their way to Montana, the already booming legal and recreational cannabis industry will continue to survive and thrive, paving the way for even more revenue and patient access.
