June 2022 Leafly HighLight: Gelonade variety

Be honest – the Covid isolation has messed up our social skills.

Puppy, party season is upon us and more than four out of five pot-snobs can recommend Gelonade; to make social outings more bearable since at least 2018.

This fantastically lemony cross between Lemon Tree and Gelato 41, coast-to-coast curmudgeons can extend the time before going completely spooked.

Don’t even believe us. Believe the experts who judge Cannabis Cups. Since 2018 they have been giving their buds to Gelonade as the best sativa out there.

This June, Gelonade flowers, carts and swabs are hitting pharmacy shelves across the country—from downtown LA to medical shops in Miami to Beantown, Boston. When summer arrives, you need the right weed for barbecues, beach days, and the bedroom. If gelonade isn’t satisfactory, you may have bigger problems than the best weed can solve.

Gelonade has an average score of 4.4 out of 5 across 40 reviews on Leafly, where reviewers acclaim its energetic, arousing, and uplifting effects. She’s considered a sativa hybrid – from the syrupy lemon zest upon opening the jar to the engaging attitude she evokes.

“Who doesn’t love gelonade,” said a Blattly reviewer, a Phil Collins fan. “Strong, sativa dominant, sassy pants, su su sudio, ohhhh whooaa!”

“Lemon to the max. The aftertaste is so sharp with lemon flavor. I love it. I have never tasted such a lemony variety. It has great intoxicating, energizing effects. Highly recommend,” said another fan.

“Gelonade literally gives me everything I want in a high. I feel uplifted, energized, relaxed and happy.”

It costs a medium to high amount depending on what market you are in. You can get eighths for $26-$30 at his home turf in California. The brand that founded Gelonade, Connected Cannabis Co, still charges $95 for a quarter-ounce small (as in “smaller bud”).

“This is a top product. Definitely worth the small extra cost,” agrees one reviewer.

Gelonade seeds generally don’t look very available. The strain seems to spread via clones. HendRx Nursery has the most respected strains of Gelonade – they love the strain. An online seed breeder Tastebudz will sell you a variation of Gelonade. I would also check out Archive Seed Bank’s work with the Lemon Tree mother plant. Grow a DosiTree this season.

The Gelonade prices

As an offspring of champions, Gelonade was born to win prizes. Connected won a Sativa Flower Cup with it in 2018. In 2020, Honeydew Farms won a Sativa Flower Cup with it. In 2021, Connected won Best Indoor Flower Overall at the Emerald Cup. Lost Paradise Organics won the Pre-Rolls category in 2022. This July, Gelonade could take home the High Times SoCal People’s Choice Sativa Flower Cup. We’ve smoked the whole backpack of strains and it’s at the top. Those Gelonade waits can’t lose.

Gelonade Terpenes

Gelonade’s success is due to its aroma molecules – its terpenes. Batches sent to labs showed results high in terpinolene, caryophyllene, and myrcene—a cluster of terpenes often associated with popular strains classified as sativas. Over at HendRX Nursery, Gelonade has “one of the highest δ-limonene potencies of any chemover available from HendRx.” Whatever it is – ask for fresh and cool gelonade from the producers before those mounds tire and die.

Lemon Sour Diesel

Almost anyone can spice up the party with a lemony Sour Diesel – a top 20 bestseller in the US. Lemon Sour Diesel adds even more zesty lemon to the fuel. This hybrid sativa feels euphoric, creative, and uplifting; ideal for a barbecue in the garden with new friends. The quality of Lemon Sour Diesel can vary. There are first class to mediocre and lots of crosses. But OGs and Sour Ds are like pizza—even when it’s bad, it’s still okay.

Pear, plum, and gas come from this sativa phenotype of Gelato. Guava is crossed with everything under the sun – Guava OG by Foxy or Guavoisier by Kingston Royal. Guava carts and dabs also rule the summer.

Her hybrid indica effects read like three of the most popular midgets: Sleepy, Hungry, and Relaxed. You’ll find papaya carts, dabs, edibles and flowers from California to Maine. Perfect for lying in a hammock and playing a ukulele; or walking completely lizard-naked on a hot rock above a secluded swimming hole. you make yourself
