Is CBD Toxic?

The answer is obvious, isn’t it? With even the World Health Organization calling CBD “safe and tolerable,” it’s clear that CBD is fine.

It’s the only cannabinoid that public health hasn’t been able to demonize. Still.

Food and Drug Administration officials published a review study on CBD. They claim their results show “potential dangers associated with oral exposure to CBD.”

They also claim that “there are no known competing financial interests or personal relationships that would appear to have influenced the work described in this paper.”

So let’s look at these two claims. Are these FDA researchers unbiased? And is CBD toxic?

Is CBD Toxic? Ask the “experts”

Who are the “experts” behind this latest review of CBD studies? How did they come to the conclusion that CBD could pose a toxic hazard to the general population?

First up is Jeremy Gingrich. An FDA employee. Technically, it’s Dr. Gingrich, but he has a PhD in philosophy. no medicine

Suppuration Choudhuri. Another FDA employee. As a true scientist, he wrote Bioinformatics for Beginners. He also published an article suggesting that CBD affects male sperm.

Patrick Cournoyer. Leads the FDA’s cannabis strategy.

Jason Downey. An FDA employee and former employee of the military-industrial complex. He worked as a biomedical scientist for Leidos.

Kristi Muldoon Jacobs. FDA and former US Pharmacopoeia.

We’re not saying these people aren’t qualified. With a few exceptions, most are actually experts in plant medicine.

But their neutrality as FDA employees is being questioned. The simpler might think, “Government agencies are honest and trustworthy.” And 80% of the time, that may be true.

But there is a revolving door between pharmaceutical executives and FDA bureaucrats. And when the FDA has a monopoly on certifications of food and drug safety and efficacy, it’s reasonable to challenge any of its claims.

Suppose the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) releases a review of renewable energy. Let’s say they realized that wind and solar power were not enough and hence oil and gas were the preferred means of America’s energy source.

Suppose someone has examined this study and suspects that the EPA is biased since its funding comes from oil and gas lobbyists.

Almost half of the FDA’s funding ($2.7 billion per year) comes from the companies it is designed to regulate.

It is not unreasonable to question the motives and biases of the authors behind a study investigating whether CBD is toxic.

Is CBD Toxic? What the study says

Is CBD Toxic?

Is CBD Toxic? Yes, according to this study. They even have a section titled “Toxicological Profile of CBD”.

Here they point to a number of previous studies testing CBD on primates (rhesus monkeys), rodents, New Zealand white rabbits, sea urchins, zebrafish, and chickens (including chicken eggs).

They found that CBD is toxic to the liver and negatively affects male and female reproduction, increases embryo-fetal mortality, suppresses the immune system (by triggering oxidative stress), and aggravates cancer cells.

As for the liver, I prefer to let the study rest.

Other research has confirmed that CBD can prevent the breakdown of substances in the liver. If you’re taking thyroid medication or blood thinners, it’s best to talk to your doctor first.

But suppressing the immune system? trigger oxidative stress (although others have found the opposite?) and worsen cancer (contrary to what others have found)?

It’s clear that something is wrong in this FDA-sponsored study.

The authors wanted to draw a conclusion that suggests that CBD is unsafe and therefore in need of tight regulation and manipulation at the cellular level by pharmaceutical interests (who can then patent their genetic manipulations).

How did this study come to all these bold conclusions that other studies don’t support? How did they come to the conclusion that CBD could be toxic?

By discarding human data and focusing on animal studies. And then transfer the findings from animals to humans.

The problem with animal testing

Is CBD Toxic?

Is CBD Toxic? “The multiple and varied effects observed after CBD exposure suggest multiple potential toxicity mechanisms,” the study states.

“CBD may have adverse effects on the male reproductive system,” it says.

FDA officials warn, “Possible adverse effects of CBD use may not be immediately apparent to users of CBD-containing consumer products.”

It’s best to just assume toxicity and trust the people who have unleashed murderous drug companies in America.

The study acknowledges that “the endocannabinoid system is still poorly understood,” but doesn’t seem to make the connection that your CBD information will be incomplete if the ECS is poorly understood.

It could be that future double-blind, placebo-controlled studies will prove CBD to be toxic. But this study is not. They merely examined possible negative aspects of CBD in animals and then assumed that the same is true for humans.

There are obvious problems with this.

  • Animals and humans have biological differences. The sexual reproduction of sea urchins, zebrafish and chickens is not comparable to that of humans. Whatever effect CBD has on them does not translate to its effects on humans.
  • In the review study, the dosages were not clear. The difference in dosing in animals and humans limits the generality of their results.
  • The endocannabinoid system is complex; Even the FDA authors admit they don’t fully understand it. Still, they make no connection between an incomplete understanding of the ECS and the making of authoritative claims about the so-called toxicity of CBD.

Overall, modern science suffers from a publication bias. The tendency is for results to be published, regardless of whether those results are inconclusive or biased.

Certainly the problem with government-funded studies is that political considerations take precedence over truth. This has been the case in cannabis-related studies for decades.

Is CBD Toxic?

CBD is only toxic when consumed without the consent of your wise overlords in Washington DC. At least that is the general impression one gets from the conclusions of the study.

“The available data clearly demonstrate the potential for adverse health effects of CBD when consumed by the general population without medical supervision.” [emphasis added]

But everything you need to know about this study is summed up in its conclusion.

“[O]The effects observed from the toxicological data, e.g. B. Effects on male and potential female reproduction have not been documented in humans.” But FDA officials continue to want CBD to be despised by the general public.

Her collection of animal studies “raises concern about the long-term use of CBD products by the general public.”

The only long-term worrying trend, however, is the revolving door between big business and government regulators.
