Discover career opportunities in the booming legal cannabis industry with a certification as a Dispensary Technician

There is an accessible way to get the education you need to succeed in the thriving legal cannabis industry.

There are no two options – legal cannabis is the fastest growing American industry. As we published in our Leafly Jobs Report 2021, the legal industry now supports more than 321,000 full-time equivalent (FTE) positions. That’s more than electrical engineers, paramedics and paramedics – and twice as many as dentists!

And that is hardly a phenomenon in any state here or there. Currently, medical marijuana is legal in 37 states, while 15 states and Washington, DC have legalized cannabis for all adults. Job opportunities are going through the roof. Even in a year of a pandemic, rampant unemployment, and economic recession, the legal cannabis industry created 77,300 full-time jobs in the United States – a 32% increase in employment year over year.

Where are the jobs?

A large part of the activities in the industry takes place in the pharmacy between the customer and the budget tender. Dispensary technicians, also known as budtenders, can enhance or destroy a consumer’s experience by either attracting a lifelong customer or sending them elsewhere. To be successful as a budget tenderer is a great challenge. You’ll need to ask questions about health concerns, exposures, dosages, consumption methods, and more. To be clear (pun intended), the best budget tender has extensive knowledge and is highly skilled in customer service.
