Cannabis YouTuber Chrissy Harless’ channel has been deleted without explanation

According to an April 5 interview with WeedTube co-founder Arend Richard, creating cannabis video content is Chrissy Harless’s way of life. “It is mine [sole] Income. it’s my business Harless Media Group LLC. It’s… the way my husband works at home with us now. How we can spend more time with our kids and live happier lives,” Harless said. “[YouTube is] able to advertise gambling in ads, pharmaceuticals in ads and alcohol. youtube [is] able to take the money from their advertisers to promote it in ads. Again, these are all regulated industries, but a content creator is not allowed to do that? I don’t even glorify it. I don’t consume too much. I’m very educational.” The usual content of Harless consisted of reviews and unboxing videos for various cannabis products.

With the deletion of her channel, Harless appreciates that not only will her family be affected, but also the many brands she has frequently worked with. “Small businesses. Almost every single one of them is a small business. An Etsy shop or a mom and pop situation. It’s a diverse group of small businesses just trying to share something safe.” Harless believes the account termination may have been caused by association with these companies and products, but it received no official explanation from YouTube.

Her Instagram account was also recently banned, but after a month of action, she was at least able to repossess it. When asked why she keeps trying, she replied that she just enjoys it. “Because I’m passionate about it and I love it,” she explained. “It has been good for my life and helped me find happiness in my life. And I know that others will benefit from it. I know that others benefit from it.”

Harless mentioned that she will be operating on WeedTube in the future. “I wish a lot more people would rely on The WeedTube! For your views, for your contented use of cannabis in general,” said Harless. “Because it really is the only safe platform that you can share without worrying. And everyone there is still responsible for it. [YouTube] Making this a point shows that there is still so much stigma. Like they just assume cannabis is dangerous. It is not. [YouTube and Google] don’t understand how safe this is [cannabis] is.”

According to Richard, it’s the perfect platform to find an unlimited amount of cannabis video content. “What I can say for sure is that WeedTube will always remain open to the cannabis community to freely post their content,” concluded Richard. “We were founded by deleted creators for deleted creators. We have never stopped serving that purpose and we look forward to bringing even more functionality to the cannabis community to combat all of today’s censoring social media.”

The trend of terminating YouTube accounts for cannabis content began four years ago in 2018. At the time, account holders reported receiving three warnings before an account was officially deleted (although the timeframe by which the account would be officially deleted seemed to vary). In the case of Harless, she received no strikes at all prior to the account termination (although she does mention a strike she received about two years ago).

WeedTube launched a campaign to raise awareness of cannabis censorship on Instagram in March, including a petition urging Instagram leadership to “participate in a roundtable with cannabis industry experts to update their policies and regulations on legal cannabis content , to provide fair and equal opportunity for our rapidly growing industry.”
