The state of Vermont only legalizes the possession and cultivation of cannabis plants. Both selling and buying cannabis are illegal in the state. However, that will change in October 2022 once the state begins issuing licenses.

Currently, adults over the age of 21 in Vermont are permitted to possess a maximum of one ounce of marijuana. Adults can also grow four immature and two mature cannabis plants for each household.

The state of New Jersey is making it legal for adults around the age of 21 to use cannabis for both medicinal and recreational purposes. Specific provisions are still under consideration.
