Can cannabis improve your perception of the energy around you?

Everyone has a sense of energetic perception. Whether it is a “feeling” that you get from someone or an atmosphere that a certain place conveys to you – energy can be felt. The first time I was really surprised by this truth was when I bought a jade peyote from a street vendor in Mexico.

The guy pointed out to me that stones have their own energy fields and since I had some basic knowledge, I agreed. Of course, I am not a “stone scientist”, but there is “some evidence” to suggest that crystals interact with energy in particular ways. Of course there are some who claim that crystals can bring luck and the like, but I’m not so sure about that. You can certainly use it as a symbol to attract luck, but I don’t know if it brings luck.

Still, the guy showed me this jade peyote and said, “This stone only interacts with some people”. He told me to bring my hand closer to the stone and I could feel it being pushed back before I touched it. I kept pushing and the stone moved very slightly, as if I was interacting with it on an energetic level.

The guy next to me – another buyer – tries right away, but to no avail. Few people at the table had any interaction with the stone, others none. I liked it so much that I bought it right there!

But what does this have to do with cannabis? Well, that brings me to something a Redditor posted on the Energy Work thread.

Marijuana Crystals – WTF!

Why doesn’t Anon-Light tell it in her own words;

I had the craziest experience I have ever had while under the influence of marijuana.

I recently bought a green aventurine crystal to tie on my necklace just because it looked cool and was cheap. I haven’t bought any of this crystal stuff, not even the slightest.

I’ve had it for a couple of months. I had some weed the other day that was so strong that I was definitely “gone”. That was all on my mind, of course, but I tried to take the crystal off my necklace.

I noticed it got super heavy when I took it off my neck. When I tried to remove the crystal from the chain, I felt a small electrical field around it. I tried to close my hand around it, but I felt real resistance. I guess I imagined it, but when it broke out I could physically feel an energetic hum in my hand as if it were vibrating. It scared me so much that I threw it in a drawer and got sober. I’ve never seen anything physically change his behavior while high … it’s been days and I’m still scared.

This post sparked a great discussion about whether cannabis can actually improve energy perception. LunaLover seemed to agree:

WOOOOAHHH !! This is crazy because this has happened to me before !!

I came home from smoking with my friends and when I got to my room one of my crystals was on the floor. It was my selenite tower and I picked it up and it was the weirdest thing because it felt like it was buzzing and vibrating like you describe it.

I thought it’s because it’s a crystal and I’m high, so maybe it was just my mind playing pranks, but now that you said it and triggered that memory again, marijuana could really be something in our brains unlock get a similar vibration as our crystals to feel it!

It turned out that many other people shared the experience and that this “stones and energy” business may have a lot more to offer. It is true that there is a lot of woo-woo in this world, but certain stones simply have an effect on people.

We have been collecting gemstones since the beginning of human history. In fact, the Mayans preferred things like jade, obsidian, quartz over silver and gold. The greed for gold and silver was a European thing. For civilizations, these stones had properties that carried certain classes of either protection, luck, health, and a variety of other desirable effects.

Is that all in your head?

Some people love the absolute. You want to be absolutely sure about X, Y, or Z. This is in part why the rise of the “scientist” has increased over the years as the old religions give way to the new. Of course, it is important to distinguish between the terms science and scientificity.

Science is a set of tools that we use to unlock the mysteries of life. We test and iterate, collect data, hypothesize, and expand our knowledge on a variety of topics. Science is not static, it is constantly changing – science is NOT a constant. Science is not an absolute. It just asks the honest questions and could give two fucks about how we feel.

Scientism, on the other hand, is the belief that “science knows everything” and that if science proves it, it must be true. Instead of using the scientific method, however, science relies on talking heads or “representatives of science” to relay the conclusions they have drawn through “SCIENCE” – an overly complicated phenomenon that simple farmers would never understand.

In the framework of scientism there are things like “consensus” and “sacred assumptions about what life is like”. Those who operate under the guise of science believe that something can be true in their hearts and minds even when the information is in doubt.

The fact that something cannot be proven with the tools available to us today does not mean that there is not “something true” about difficult concepts. After all, the entire universe exists in your mind since you are the observer of your universe. No two worlds are exactly alike and if an insane amount of vibration emanates from an inanimate object for you – then this is true for YOU in your universe.

Of course we need some norms to work together, but you would be surprised how much leeway there is in your universe to change the definition or assumptions of certain things.

Cannabis certainly has an impact on your perception and maybe this is what you need to tap into these alternative ways of perceiving reality. Whether these assumptions are right or wrong depends on the person asking.
