3 tips for sharing weed amid a pandemic

After some ups and downs, we are in the middle of a new wave of COVID-19 triggered by the Omicron variant. Even though we’re virus veterans now, it’s still important to take care of ourselves and take extra precautions. That includes cannabis, especially the community aspect of it.

While you don’t have to quit smoking entirely, there are a few things to consider when consuming cannabis while engaging in social distancing. Marijuana use has long been associated with community: marijuana lounges, joints, and bongs are activities meant to be shared. Even smoking at home with a few friends can make you think if you don’t know that person’s vaccination status or have just been watching the news.

Here are some steps you can take to keep you and those around you safer when using marijuana amid a pandemic.

Whether you’re kissing or sharing a smoking device, exchanging saliva in this climate can make anyone a little paranoid. Make sure you hang out with healthy people and stay home if you’re feeling a little down. When it comes to joint and bong sharing, consider other alternatives, carry your own vape pen, or carry some weed with you.

If you miss the feeling of sharing weed, there are alternatives. Home testing is an effective, but not entirely foolproof, way to ensure everyone you meet is safe. Limit your gatherings to people you trust, conduct tests or make sure people are tested beforehand and you will eliminate some sources of stress.

If you’re battling a cold, flu, or infection, hot smoke will only irritate your lungs, making your symptoms and cough worse. While THC and CBD have anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, it’s important to consider how you consume them and also to speak to a doctor. Cannabis has a complex effect on our immune system and a pandemic may not be the best time to experiment with your health.

Consider consuming edibles

If you’re healthy and want to avoid sharing altogether, edibles are a good option to try. Today, edibles come in all shapes and sizes, designed to be shared and consumed alone. If you want to add a personal touch to the holiday season, bake your own and take them to your trusted friends and family. Prevent freaks out by eating small doses, avoiding your triggers, and drinking plenty of water.
